Those of you who are experienced Client Attraction Masters Circle members have learned this lesson very well. However, it is so huge that it is worth reminding because it is way too easy to fall into old habits.
As I am sure you know, we are in a full blown new era of advising. We are now officially in This is a new era of 21st century advising and that calls for 21st century client attraction. What worked in the past in many cases does not work now. This includes how advisors hold themselves out to the public.
The image that you portray to the public, or as I like to call it the world, is your big opportunity to attract people in to you. It has everything to do with how you bring in clients SO make it good and do it right!
In the past, advisors liked to create a feel of having a larger company behind them. It was a feel of being extraordinarily professional and almost institutional. This served a real purpose ~ to give the image of stability. Those rules do not apply in this new era of advising, however, a great many advisors are still doing it this way. If you are still stuck in the old model you may be wondering why your business slowed down SO much……..there is a really really good reason ~ people are simply not attracted to that model anymore.

What are prospects attracted to in an advisor NOW? They are attracted to a much more personalized model. A model where they feel like they are dealing with a real person that they can get to know on a number of different levels. They do not want to have to find a way through the corporate speak, institution language, strategy speak and investment language to get through to YOU the person who they will be trusting the judgment of.
They want to feel like they can relate to YOU as a person rather than the you that represents an institution or a larger entity. This goes for advisors who are independent too. Many independents make an effort to give off the image of a larger practice. In most cases these days that hinders their client attraction.
In order to accomplish this it calls for making sure that all of your language, descriptions and “everything” that is forward facing to the world is warm, friendly, personal, genuine and most of all real! REAL is key in this new age of client attraction!
Below I am giving you a few exact examples so you can begin to evaluate and implement just how 21st century you are. AND if you find that you are not then use this to start making changes and shifts so you can attract a lot more clients in. All of these have exact steps and formulas to them that work NOW. Everything on your website should be written in a familiar friendly, easy to understand and positive voice. No financial jargon or complicated business model language or strategy language.
You should be using as many pictures as possible on your website, emails, newsletters and invitations.
Get rid of all of your corporate businessy speak and language on ALL written marketing materials. Once you are in this business for more than even one year we all tend to start speaking and writing a certain way. This is based off of old school models.
Give everyone the opportunity to know YOU not just your business model. Many advisors talk mostly about their business model and their asset management STOP doing that! That is not what people want anymore. They want to know YOU and that you can get them to their goals and that you understand their goals. They want to know who you are as a person so they can make the decision if they should trust you like a family friend.
There are a great many ways to make a hugely positive 21st century shift to attracting clients in MUCH more easily and much quicker. I have just named a few.
