For most Advisory Professionals stress and pressure gets in the way of bringing in those great clients! How are you under pressure? When you are in a tight situation and have to bring in more paying clients because of self imposed pressure or because of income pressure ~ how do you react? Do you feel it is easier or harder to bring in more clients? My guess is it’s harder for you. It’s so easy to get caught up in the goal and the pressure.
A little bit of pressure can often be a great thing but once it tips the meter it can become “very” detrimental to your success in client attraction.
Today I would like to give you some lessons on why this is the case and a few HOW-to steps you can take to attract more clients under pressure.
Let’s start by defining. Let’s say there are two weights of pressure.
Light pressure = kick starting execution AND even inspiration
Heavier pressure = Stress and sometimes paralyzes your client attraction
Let’s also take a look in another context. I like to use sports as an example because it is a microcosm of many lessons in life and in business. What is the biggest difference between top athletes and those that are struggling to make it? Here’s the answer: How they react under pressure ~ which can also mean how much they believe in themselves when the going gets tough and the pressure shows up.
Ideally what you want to do is feel the light pressure for inspiration and productive urgency but not feel disabling stress from heavier pressure.
Here are some secrets on mellowing heavier pressure so you can achieve much BIGGER in client attraction.
- Have a plan that you completely believe in! You must have a client attraction plan that you feel fits YOU and the target market you are looking to attract. It must feel good to work your plan. Your plan must include tangible systems that are easy for you to implement and go to. You must believe that your plan will get you to your goal.
- Systematize your client attraction and your business. When you have a process and a system “that works” for everything then your stress for meeting goals reduces significantly. This is because you know it is taken care of in and by the system and all you simply need to do is feed the system more.
- Have goals that are achievable, reasonable and measurable often. WOW I just gave you three huge secrets on goals!! You must have all three to make it work. Do not give yourself an outlandish goal that is insane. Because here is the secret….the outlandish goal will break your spirit and will interrupt your client attraction. When you have a reasonable goal then there is a BIG chance you will relax more and you will attract a lot more clients. Don’t subscribe to the overworked outlandish goal old school model. It doesn’t work! Also, measure your progress visibly and often ~ I suggest weekly.
- Here’s a biggy ~ You MUST believe in what you are doing ~ all of it! Many times the pressure that stalls client attraction is from not believing that you can do it! Not believing that it is possible. Take a lesson from top athletes ~ you must believe in yourself a lot in order to get through the times of pressure. Doubting yourself constantly will only add more stress. Put all of the above in place and your doubt will disappear.

Take the list above and ask yourself honestly if you have each one securely in place. If one or more is missing then get on it right away and fill in the gap. All of the above must be in place for your pressure to work for you not against you!
