Do you feel overwhelmed with too many things going on at one time AND you are not getting the results? It’s time to simplify your practice so you can receive better results.
Keeping it simple brings better results ~ this is something that has been known for centuries. However, in our modern western world we have come to believe that more is better and having your hand in many pots will bring you more success. Not so! When you simplify and focus on just a few things you will receive much more success and you’ll even receive it much faster.
This works extremely well in business. One of the biggest downfalls that I have found with Advisors is they try to do too many things at one time and end up with no real focus and therefore mediocre results. They have no real focus in their practice and business and no focus on a daily basis. They are overwhelmed by doing loads of tasks and not getting results.
The answer is to simplify. Simplify what you are focusing on. Simplify your business model, your goals and how you run your day.
The truth is that this business can be very simple and it’s actually a lot easier than you think to receive success.
One of the main reasons Advisors run around like crazy doing loads of tasksgetting mediocre results is that this is what they have been taught. Many firms focus on tracking tasks not results. Also, in the old school model tasks and multi tasking was King. In this new era we have found the way to get real results is simplicity and focus. Again it’s an ancient knowledge coming around to our new era.
What are some of the things you can do to bring it back to simplicity?Here are just a few of the things I teach the Advisors inside the Inspired Advisor Masters Circle and in my Laser Coaching.
Have a target market focus and stick with it.(right now in our new era there are fantastic ideal target markets) Once you’ve chosen it ~ get to know that target market really really well and stick with it!
Choose one main client attraction system to use and repeat it easily over and over and then supplement with 2 other mini ones. AND plan it all out for the next 12 months
Choose an asset range that you specialize in working with and stick with it
Have easy to use systems and processes that are repeatable and time effective
Make everything super simple ~ your target market, your client attraction system, your daily schedule your weekly and yearly goals. So many times I see Advisors get hung up on making goals for everything and trying to do it all! Stop that and make it simple do things in 3s.

I want to share a personal story with you that has a wonderful lesson to it.
As you may know, I train in the sport of Triathlon. Yesterday when I was out on my bike for a 20 miler I was reminded of an important life lesson. I was headed for “the hill”. I’ve heard of this “hill” before and since I’ve never been on it I kind of made it into a much bigger hill than it really was ~ in my imagination. :-) When we got to the hill I quickly shifted to just focusing on the moment and to just keep going. Before I knew it I was at the top and feeling great!
When we focus too much on the future we tend to make “perceived” obstacles much harder than they really are. Sometimes we even make up obstacles that aren’t really there. Stay focused on the now and don’t make up obstacles!
It’s not as hard as you think to get to the top of that hill!
Here’s what I’ve learned. Most people somehow expect to receive a different result by simply just thinking about it. Now don’t get me wrong. Thinking about it is the very first step and it’s a step that must happen before anything else. However, in order for something awesome to happen you must THEN take action on it.
YOU must take action in order to get what you are looking to receive.
Now, here’s one of the big keys to taking action ~ use this guideline!
If you are looking to receive a different result than you have received in the past then you must do something differently.
Albert Einstein talked about this concept a lot in his life. If you want to receive a different result then you must DO something differently.
Here’s an example for you. If you are not already bringing in the lots of the ideal clients that you really want then you must do something differently AND take action differently then you have in the past. If you are “stuck” in your business and are not making the kind of progress that you truly want to be making THEN you must take action and do something differently.
If you truly want to change people’s lives and be highly successful at the same time then TAKE ACTION!
Remember, do it differently in order to receive a different results.
Take action!!
The advisors and individuals who’s business is stuck have a tendency to do 1 of 2 things.
They don’t take action
They think that just doing more will get them a different result
I could go on forever on how just doing more of the same kinds of things not only gets you nowhere but is actually detrimental. Think about an athlete, if they just did more of everything they would become injured and basically go backwards in their training..
It’s really very simple.
How will you take action now in order to receive YOUR success
AND
What will you do differently vs. what you have done in the past in order to receive the true success you deserve.
I see so many Advisors unfocused and non specific about what they “really” want! With all this fuzziness they are making it much harder on themselves to receive success.
It’s so important that you become very specific as to what you really want. When you are clear, specific and focused it will come to you so much easier. This goes for all kinds of areas of your business from client attraction to how much $$ you want to be making to how many hours you actually want to work.
When you are working on building your business finding the larger clients can feel very very daunting! Most FAs feel this way if they have not done it already…..that is totally normal……but….it doesn’t have to feel that way. I can tell you from first hand experience I have found it much easier to work with 500K and 1 million plus clients than the ones below that. I have also found it a lot more simple and easy than you would think to find them and bring them in. Yes….I actually just said it is not as hard to find them as you may think.
What I am about to share with you is the basis for serious client attraction. It will take a little thinking and some courage but it’s extraordinarily powerful.
For real client and asset attraction take off your image filter. You may have heard for years that image is everything! You may have been told you need a certain image in order to impress or bring in clients.
Here is the real answer to attracting clients…you need to take off your image filter and let the real you come through. So much has changed in this new world of financial services globally. One of the biggest things that has changed is that people now want real and genuine people. Thank goodness! They do not want companies they want people and they want people who are for real and are not afraid to be themselves with their clients. This is all a part of the ethics, trust and transparency that is evolving in business and magnified hugely in our field of financial services.
Let’s talk about branding today. For those of you who are Masters Circle members there are few things that I am going to say right now that will be “very” familiar and a few things that will be totally new.
First let me start with 5 super important words of advice for you!
Stop Trying To Fit In!
YOU are your biggest asset in branding. The you that is unique, genuine and natural. I know, I know, for most advisors this is not easy. We are so used to giving off a certain image. Well I am here to tell you that doesn’t work anymore in this new era of global business and especially in advising.
You’ve heard me say that 21st century client attraction is all about being genuine, natural and uniquely YOU. You’ve heard me say that this new era of financial services (globally) is “really” different and that people make their decisions very differently on who they will entrust their money to and whose advice they will listen to. Well here’s how it work with branding. In a previous lesson I showed you how branding is YOU. It’s not your company and it’s not your team’s name it’s YOU. That’s how it works these days and that’s how clients come in these days. Let’s look at the old vs. the new. The new being what works NOW to attract a lot more clients a lot easier.
In the old days many advisors branded themselves as institutional with really large teams or what looked like in their branding as really large teams. They branded themselves as a larger company or relied on being with a larger company as their brand. They tried to blend in to a professional veneer within that world of columns and old school banks and money management firms. Their websites were (are) steel buildings on institutional virtual pages where everything smells and feels like large institution even if they are a small team. Very little can be found about them, who they are and why they are unique. In short there is NO personality to them! This is a HUGE issue in our new era of advising.
The advisors that are winning today in this new era do everything from a genuine transparent and natural branding point of view. It’s much more real and much more relaxed. They are not afraid to let people know who they are and most of all let their unique personality, experiences and excellent judgment shine in their branding. YOU are YOUR biggest asset in branding! I can’t say that enough.
The bottom line is!! People NOW, more than ever before in our history, want to work with “people” not institutions. They want to work with people who are unique and genuine. People who they have the opportunity to get to know in more than JUST business!

This Intel ad has “nothing” to do with a product or how well it works. It has everything to do with its personality. It shows its personality in a BIG way in this commercial.
This Travelers Insurance ad (one of the most popular on the air right now) is all about personality and as far away from institutional as you can get! No product or service! It shows people real life stuff that has nothing to do with institutions. You are brought into a home, a neighborhood and a pet’s life. By the way the dog that was used in this commercial is a rescued dog. Now how cool is that.
